The leader of the CHP, Özgür Özel, was almost cursing at the last rally held in Silivri due to the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu. Özel, who incited the crowd to boo the Çatalca Mufti Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu and Nurettin Yıldız, said, "Boo this Çatalca Mufti and that Nurettin Yıldız together."
After the arrest and suspension of Ekrem İmamoğlu from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul (IBB) due to a corruption investigation initiated by the CHP, rallies continue to be held in both provinces and districts. The fifth district rally was held at Atatürk Square in Silivri.
TARGETED NURETTIN YILDIZ
Speaking to the crowd gathered here, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel added writer Nurettin Yıldız to the list alongside the Çatalca Mufti Ahmet Mehmetalioğlu, whom he had previously booed at earlier rallies for his words about the late artist Volkan Konak.
ALMOST CURSING
While Özel was calling for the crowd to boo, he was almost cursing. He was heard saying, "Boo this Çatalca Mufti and this Nurettin Yıldız together..." and it was observed that he cut his words short.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Yesterday, 15 people were detained for attacking police while trying to protest Nurettin Yıldız, who was a speaker at the conference titled "Islamic Sciences: For Whom, How Much?" organized by the Bosphorus University Islamic Studies Club (BİSAK).
Today, after completing their procedures at the police station, 6 of the 15 individuals sent to the courthouse were arrested by the Duty Magistrate for the crime of "resisting the performance of duty" and sent to prison. 9 others were released under judicial control measures of 'prohibition from leaving the country' and 'signature'.
