Due to the cold weather affecting Erzincan, the surface of the Tercan Dam Lake has been covered with approximately 20 centimeters of ice. Nighttime temperatures reaching minus 25 to 30 degrees have negatively impacted life in the region, while citizens expressed, "This year, there is a disastrous cold. Six years ago, the weather had also turned this cold. We are experiencing the kind of cold that brings out the foxes this year."
The surface of the dam lake located in the Tercan district of Erzincan is covered with approximately 20 centimeters of ice, where cage fish farming is also practiced. Tercan residents stated that for the first time in many years, the cold weather has been this effective, indicating that Siberian cold is being experienced in the district.
THEY BREAK THE ICE TO REACH THE CAGES
As life conditions become difficult due to the cold weather dropping to minus 25 to 30 degrees at night, citizens fishing in the dam are trying to break the ice to reach the cages.

Alpaslan Cihan from Tercan said, "This year there is a disastrous cold. Six years ago, the weather had also cooled down like this. The Tercan Dam Lake was frozen in the same way back then. At night it drops to minus 27 degrees, and during the day it is minus 17 to 20 degrees. This year we are experiencing cold that brings out foxes," he said.

On the other hand, according to the latest assessment made by the Meteorology 12th Regional Directorate teams, it is predicted that today the weather will be partly and very cloudy across the region, with intermittent snowfall expected in Erzincan, Erzurum, and surrounding areas starting from noon. It is expected that there will be frost and freezing events, along with fog and mist occurrences in some places during the morning and night hours. The air temperature will be below seasonal norms.

Since there is an avalanche danger in steep and sloping slopes in the region, and due to the expected frost and freezing events across the region, it is necessary to be careful and take precautions against possible adverse situations.
