US President Donald Trump used harsh language targeting former President Barack Obama while defending the expected new agreement with Iran. Criticizing the nuclear deal during Obama's tenure, Trump alleged that Iranians mocked the former president and brought up an expletive-laden phrase. "They tried to get away with it by paying bribes," Trump said, adding, "Do you know what the Iranians did? They laughed at Obama and called him a 'stupid son of a bitch.'"
Speaking after his meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Trump said the agreement reportedly reached with Iran is not yet a final deal.
Regarding the process with Iran, Trump stated, 'This is a memorandum of understanding. If I don't like it, we'll go back to bombing the hell out of them.'
TARGETED THE JCPOA
Continuing his speech, Trump harshly criticized the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed with Iran in 2015 under the Obama administration, arguing that the deal gave major concessions to Tehran.
Trump claimed that $1.7 billion in cash was paid to Iran during the Obama era and asserted that this policy had failed.
USED PROFANE LANGUAGE
In the most striking part of his remarks, Trump alleged that the Iranians mocked the Obama administration, bringing up a profane expression.
'They tried to get away with it by paying a bribe,' Trump said, adding, 'Do you know what the Iranians did? They laughed at Obama and called him a 'stupid son of a b****.''
Trump's words quickly sparked widespread reactions in the U.S. public and on social media.
CRITICISM FROM OBAMA
Meanwhile, former President Barack Obama, in an interview with ABC News before the deal was signed, expressed doubt that any agreement put forward by the Trump administration would be significantly different or better than the 2015 nuclear deal signed during his tenure.
Obama commented, 'I have doubts that any agreement that emerges will be significantly different or better than the one we negotiated.'
No official response has yet come from Obama's camp regarding Trump's statements.
