In oil-rich Deir ez-Zor, efforts are underway to gain positions by the PKK/YPG.

It is reported that the pressure from anti-regime armed groups in Syria on Homs and Damascus has increased. The regime's army is trying to regroup its forces by shifting some of its elements from the Iraqi border to the west. The influence of the PKK/YPG is also observed in the areas where the clashes have intensified.

With the increasing pressure of regime-opposed armed groups on Homs and the capital Damascus in Syria, the regime army on the country's border with Iraq has begun to shift some of its elements westward.

As the clashes intensified in Syria on November 27, with regime-opposed groups starting to advance in Homs after Idlib, Aleppo, and Hama, and the pressure on the capital Damascus increasing, the regime army is trying to gather the necessary units.

CONTROL OF OIL-RICH DEIR EZ-ZOR HAS BEEN LEFT TO PKK/YPG

The Syrian regime has begun to withdraw some of its forces from the front line facing the PKK/YPG-occupied area along the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor province, located in the east of the country near the Iraqi border. The regime army, which has also secured the strategic supply corridor extending from Iraq to Syria and from Syria to Lebanon, has left 7 villages to the occupation of PKK/YPG.

The army forces withdrawing from the villages of Murrat, Haşşam, Mazlum, Tabiyye, Hüseyiniyye, Salihiyye, and Hatla in Deir ez-Zor are heading westward.

IRAN-BACKED GROUPS ARE ALSO IN DEIR EZ-ZOR

It is known that Iran-backed groups are heavily present in the region starting from the center of Deir ez-Zor city to the El-Bukemal district near the Syria-Iraq border.

Almost all of the Deir ez-Zor lands east of the Euphrates River are under the occupation of the US-backed terrorist organization PKK/YPG, while the provincial center and other rural areas are under the control of Bashar al-Assad's regime and Iran-backed groups.

Developments in Syria

THE OPERATION STARTED ON NOVEMBER 27

On November 27, clashes began between Assad regime forces and regime-opposed armed groups in the western rural area of Aleppo province in northern Syria. On November 30, regime-opposed groups took most of the center of Aleppo from regime forces and established control throughout Idlib on the same day.

ASSAD LOST POSITIONS ONE AFTER ANOTHER

After intense clashes, the groups captured the center of Hama city from regime forces on December 5. Regime-opposed groups began to advance by capturing some settlements in Homs province, which is strategically important and opens to the capital Damascus. In the Freedom Dawn Operation launched by the Syrian National Army against the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in the rural area of Aleppo on December 1, the district center of Tel Rıfat was liberated from terrorism.
