THE NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYED PERSONS REACHED 3 MILLION 75 THOUSAND
TÜİK shared the results of the "Labor Force Statistics, September 2025" research with the public. According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey, the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and over increased by 12 thousand compared to the previous month, reaching 3 million 75 thousand in September 2025. The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8.6 percent. The unemployment rate was estimated to be 7.4 percent for men and 11.1 percent for women.
The number of employed individuals decreased by 200 thousand compared to the previous month, reaching 32 million 491 thousand in September 2025, while the employment rate decreased by 0.3 points to 48.9 percent. This rate was 66.3 percent for men and 31.8 percent for women. The labor force decreased by 188 thousand compared to the previous month, reaching 35 million 566 thousand in September 2025, while the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.3 points to 53.5 percent. The labor force participation rate was 71.6 percent for men and 35.7 percent for women.
UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AMONG YOUNG POPULATION IS 14.9 PERCENT
The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 decreased by 0.9 points compared to the previous month, reaching 14.9 percent. In this age group, the unemployment rate was estimated to be 11.4 percent for men and 21.4 percent for women. The average actual working time of those employed during the reference period, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, increased by 1.0 hour compared to the previous month, reaching 42.9 hours in September 2025.
IDLE LABOR RATE WAS 28.6 PERCENT
The rate of idle labor, consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force, and unemployed individuals, decreased by 1.2 points compared to the previous month, reaching 28.6 percent in September 2025. The integrated rate of time-related underemployment and unemployed individuals was estimated to be 18.0 percent, while the integrated rate of unemployed and potential labor force was estimated to be 20.5 percent.
