The leader of the Future Party, Ahmet Davutoğlu, stated that he would not hesitate to accept an offer for the position of Vice President if called upon to "restore the state." However, he emphasized that he would not accept a symbolic position, saying, "If the state is in distress, I will not shy away from duty, but I will not legitimize what has been done."
During the opening reception of the new legislative year of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Ahmet Davutoğlu, the leader of the Future Party, who was in the spotlight for his candid conversations with President Erdoğan, responded to claims that he would switch to the AK Party.
"IF THEY SAY 'LET'S RESTORE THIS STATE...'"
Participating in İlker Karagöz's Çalar Saat program on NOW TV, Davutoğlu gave a noteworthy response to the question, "Would you accept if offered the vice presidency?" He stated, "I know the state, I understand it. If someone says to me, 'The state is in trouble, the country's economy is on the brink of collapse. Let's restore this state,' I would not hesitate."
"WHAT IS IMPORTANT FOR ME..."
However, emphasizing that he would not accept a "symbolic position," Davutoğlu said, "What is important for me is that authority and responsibility are balanced. Contributing to the reconstruction of the state is statesmanship."
IS THERE A RIFT AMONG THEM?
Davutoğlu also stated that he has no personal rift with his former colleagues, saying, "I am not in a personal issue with anyone; the matter is the future of the state."
BABACAN ALSO LEFT THE DOOR OPEN
Ali Babacan, the leader of the DEVA Party, in a program he attended the other day, responded to the question of whether he would switch to the AK Party by saying, "I have neither a grudge nor anger towards Tayyip Bey. I have no doubt about his love for the country and his faith in God. However, the point we disagree on is how this country should be governed. We even sat down and worked with the CHP. We do not categorically close our doors to anyone, but as of today, I do not see a willingness for change in Tayyip Bey or the AK Party administration."
