A service minibus that lost control fell into a creek bed in Tuzla, Istanbul. One person lost their life, and 14 others were injured in the accident. It was claimed that the minibus had a malfunction, and the driver entered a side road to try to drive the vehicle down the slope, but due to the lack of any warning signs or safety measures on the road, he did not notice the approximately 20-meter drop at the end of the road.
After the minibus accident in Tuzla, where 1 person lost their life and 14 others were injured, negligence was revealed.
The accident occurred around 08:00 in Aydınlı Neighborhood, on Patlayıcı Maddeler Yolu Street. According to the information obtained, the service minibus with the license plate 34 LIY 607, driven by Gökhan Uğur, broke down while moving on the road. Minibus driver Uğur attempted to restart the vehicle by taking it onto a side road. At that moment, the moving minibus fell into a stream bed 20 meters off the road.
Upon notification, fire, medical, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams began working to rescue the injured passengers from the minibus. As a result of the teams' efforts, 13 injured individuals, including 2 seriously injured, were taken to the hospital by ambulance. While the injured were receiving treatment, Adem Aksu, one of the seriously injured, could not be saved despite all interventions. Police teams cordoned off the area where the accident occurred. After the teams completed their investigations at the accident site, the minibus that had fallen into the stream bed was lifted out with a crane.
"THE VEHICLE ENTERED THE SIDE ROAD FROM THE MAIN ROAD" Ercan Kırım, who witnessed the accident, said, "I saw that the vehicle was not working. It entered the side road from the main road. I think it entered that road because it thought it was a slope. At that moment, it wanted to restart the vehicle. I heard a noise while passing by here. When I arrived, the minibus had flown off. From what I saw, there were 5-6 seriously injured. 7-8 people managed to get out on their own. The police and ambulance arrived shortly. 2 paramedics intervened quickly," he said.
CLAIM OF LACK OF WARNING SIGNS AND SAFETY MEASURES ON THE ROAD According to the news from İHA, there were no warning signs or safety measures on the side road where the minibus entered, and it was stated that there was a 20-meter drop at the end of the road, from which the minibus fell.
The police investigation into the accident is ongoing.
