In the Beşiri district of Batman, a 65-year-old man named Mehmet Şanlı, along with his wife Takibe and their children Elanur and Akıncan, lost their lives in an armed attack on a light commercial vehicle. Following the attack, the number of arrests has risen to 18.

The incident occurred yesterday evening on the road to Eskihamur village, which is part of Beşiri district. The light commercial vehicle driven by Mehmet Şanlı was fired upon by one or more individuals who had set an ambush. In the attack, driver Şanlı, along with his wife Takibe Şanlı, daughters Elanur, and son Akıncan Şanlı became the targets of the bullets. Upon notification, a large number of health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. During the inspection, it was determined that the couple and their children in the vehicle had lost their lives.
ARRESTS CAME IN SUCCESSION
As part of the investigation launched regarding the incident, 4 suspects were captured and taken into custody during the night. In the multi-faceted investigation conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 14 more suspects were taken into custody in the morning hours.
MOTHER IN THE CENTER, FATHER AND CHILDREN BURIED IN THE VILLAGE CEMETERY
The funerals of Mehmet and Takibe Şanlı, along with their children, were delivered to their relatives after autopsy procedures conducted at the Batman Training and Research Hospital morgue.
While Takibe Şanlı's funeral was buried in central Batman, Mehmet Şanlı and their children were bid farewell to their final journey in Eskihamur village amidst the tears of their relatives. Intense security measures were also taken by gendarmerie teams during the funeral. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
