A family of four was ambushed and murdered in Batman. A total of 24 people have been detained in connection with the incident. It has been learned that the reason for the brutality was a land dispute between two families and a case of bride kidnapping.
An family tragedy occurred in the Beşiri district of Batman. Attackers ambushed a vehicle traveling on the road to Eskihamur village and opened fire. In the attack, 65-year-old Mehmet Şanlı, his wife Takibe Şanlı (43), their daughters Elanur (9), and their son Akıncan Şanlı (6) lost their lives.

STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE: NUMBER OF DETAINEES RISES TO 24
The Batman Governor's Office announced in a statement regarding the attack that the number of detainees has risen to 24. The statement said, "On September 14, 2025, around 22:55, four of our citizens lost their lives in an armed attack on a vehicle traveling on the road to Eskihamur village in our Beşiri district. Four suspects were captured and detained. As a result of ongoing efforts to clarify the incident, 20 more suspects have been apprehended, bringing the total number of detainees to 24."
THE FEUD'S BACKGROUND INVOLVES LAND AND KIDNAPPING
The underlying issue of the incident arose from a feud between two families. Allegedly, there has been a long-standing land dispute between the parties, as well as a kidnapping incident. It was reported that Mehmet Şanlı's brother kidnapped a girl from the feuding family, and although the young girl was returned to her family two days later, the tension continued.
About two years ago, a stone-and-club fight broke out between the parties, injuring 15 people, and the tension never subsided. It is claimed that the last attack occurred due to both the land dispute and the kidnapping issue.
