According to data from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change's General Directorate of Meteorology; today, the coldest settlement in Turkey was the district of Altınyayla. Life came to a standstill in the district where the air temperature was measured at minus 23.2 degrees. Citizens struggled to start their vehicles with dead batteries, while frozen trees were captured by cameras.

The diesel has frozen, it's turned into yogurt. Because of this, we faced difficulties in the services. We managed with each other. There is an unprecedented cold. The air temperature shows minus 23 degrees, but I am 55 years old, and I have never seen such cold." he said.
