In an explosion that occurred on the ground floor of a 14-story apartment building in Beylikdüzü, one person lost their life and three others were injured. Residents of the building claimed that the explosion was a result of the suicide of the building's caretaker. One of the neighbors stated, "His family left him a day before. His wife and children left the house a day earlier. The man was found dead, it could be planned."
A blast that occurred in the morning hours in Beylikdüzü, Istanbul, resulted in the death of one person and injuries to three others. Apartment residents claimed that the building's caretaker committed suicide by turning on the natural gas. Residents of the apartment began to evacuate their homes after the explosion.
THEY HAD BEEN CHATTING UNTIL MORNING
Gülizar Doğan, a resident of the apartment where the explosion took place, said: "From 02:00 to 04:00, everyone was talking in the WhatsApp group, but no one called anywhere. At 01:59, a woman wrote, 'I smell natural gas.' On the other side, women were talking about 'I smell gas.' No one lifted a finger. Conversations continued until 04:00. It went on like this, and at 07:35, we experienced the disaster. It could be suicide. His family left him a day before. His children and wife left the house a day before. The man was also found dead; it could be planned.
"THE TRASH HADN'T EVEN BEEN COLLECTED A DAY BEFORE"
He was our caretaker. The trash hadn't even been collected in the apartment a day before. They had a domestic argument. That's how they left. He had been in our building for 3-4 months. I felt that he was acting strangely, but I didn't know he would plan something like this. He was arguing with his family, and probably out of anger, he made this plan."
BUILDING BEING EVACUATED
After the explosion, it was observed that residents of the building were allowed to retrieve their belongings, and some residents were seen taking their pets out of the building.
Meanwhile, while the cleaning efforts by Beylikdüzü Municipality teams continued in the damaged apartment, it was noted that damaged vehicles parked in front of the apartment were being towed away with the help of a tow truck after the explosion.
