In the Grand Kartal Hotel located in Kartalkaya Ski Resort in Bolu, 78 people lost their lives in the fire that broke out on the night of January 21. As part of the investigation conducted by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 28 people were detained.

Among those arrested are 19 suspects, including the hotel owner Halit Ergül, general manager Emir Aras, Bolu Deputy Mayor responsible for the fire department Sedat Gülener, and Acting Fire Chief Kenan Coşkun. Other suspects were released under judicial control. Recently detained were the Secretary General of the Provincial Special Administration Sırrı Köstereli and Deputy Secretary General Bünyamin Bal, who were arrested by the Duty Peace Criminal Court and sent to prison.
