CORRUPTION INVESTIGATION AGAINST IMM

In two separate investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding allegations of "terrorism" and "corruption" against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its President Ekrem İmamoğlu, the suspects were transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan under heavy security measures after completing their procedures at the police station. Among the 89 suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, 5 suspects were referred to the Peace Criminal Court for arrest on charges of "establishing and managing a criminal organization," "receiving bribes," "extortion," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender," while 84 suspects were referred for arrest on charges of "being a member of a criminal organization," "receiving and giving bribes."

48 INDIVIDUALS, INCLUDING IMAMOGLU, WERE ARRESTED

Among the suspects, İmamoğlu was arrested by the duty magistrate on charges of "establishing and managing a criminal organization," "receiving bribes," "extortion," "illegally recording personal data," and "interfering with a tender" within the scope of the 'corruption' investigation. On the other hand, it was determined that there was strong suspicion of the crime of "aiding an armed terrorist organization" against İmamoğlu; however, since he was already decided to be arrested for financial crimes, it was deemed unnecessary at this stage, and the request was rejected. It was learned that the arrest of 48 suspects referred to the duty magistrate was decided, while the remaining 41 suspects were released under judicial control conditions.
