The second key figure in the newborn gang investigation, Dr. İlker Gönen, who was detained, committed suicide by cutting his wrists in prison.
It has been reported that Dr. İlker Gönen, one of the detained defendants in the case related to the Newborn gang, which is accused of transferring emergency baby patients to private hospitals they had previously agreed upon, leading to their deaths and unjust profits, has committed suicide.
AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
It has been learned that Gönen committed suicide by cutting his wrists; the prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation against the prison staff.
PRISON SENTENCE REQUESTED FROM 177 TO 582 YEARS
In the Newborn gang case, for the defendants Fırat Sarı and İlker Gönen, a total of 10 counts of "manslaughter by negligence," "qualified fraud," and "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime" were requested due to the deaths of 10 babies, along with 11 counts of "forgery in official documents," resulting in a total prison sentence request of 177 years and 6 months to 582 years and 9 months.
Gönen was known as the second defendant in the case.
