"I AM NOT A DRUG DEALER, I AM A DOCTOR"
During the hearing held the previous day, detained defendant Süleyman Salih Zoroğlu stated in his defense, "There is no pleasurable situation with the dose of ketamine I use. There is no addictive situation either. Ketamine is not a drug that causes physical dependence. Ketamine is not a pleasurable drug that makes you feel very good when taken. It is beneficial for depression. I did not use ketamine outside of medication. I am not a drug dealer, I am a doctor."
FROM THE INDICTMENT
In the indictment prepared by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the statements of 20 complainant families and 21 victim children were taken. The indictment included the statements of 21 victim children aged between 7 and 18 and their parents, session records related to the victim children, and the content of messages sent to families. It was stated in the indictment that Süleyman Salih Zoroğlu diagnosed the victims and administered ketamine during the sessions, asked sexually explicit questions, caused deterioration in their physical and mental health, accused various family members of abuse, made threatening attempts involving financial demands, and tried to place the children in a house he would keep and send them abroad. It was also explained in the indictment that substances seized at the clinical and home addresses of defendant Zoroğlu were found to contain ketamine and ketamine-contaminated materials as a result of examinations and analyses conducted by the Forensic Medicine Institute's Chemistry Specialization Department. The indictment stated that the closed-ended questions directed by defendant Zoroğlu to the victim children, the practices violating patient confidentiality, hostile expressions towards parents, and positive reinforcements related to suicide attempts were contrary to fundamental professional and ethical principles, and his actions could be considered as emotional abuse of children.
It was also noted in the indictment that none of the victim children went to the clinic due to a trauma caused by allegations, suspicions, or possibilities of sexual abuse. It was recorded that defendant Süleyman Salih Zoroğlu quickly diagnosed all cases with Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD) and Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) despite there being no history of sexual abuse. Initially, the children tried to explain to the doctor that they had not been abused and that their reasons for seeking help were not this, but it was stated in the indictment that Zoroğlu claimed to have immediately understood incest "with the special abilities given by God, through a premonition, by looking with a spiritual eye." The indictment also included findings that Zoroğlu attempted to convince many of the victim children to leave their schools, stay in houses he would create by separating from their families, obtain passports, and go abroad.
At this point, it was recorded in the indictment that defendant Zoroğlu planned to use the money he would obtain through blackmail from the families of the victims, and that the main connection point abroad was his fugitive sister, who is a suspect in the FETÖ case. It was also explained in the indictment that Zoroğlu advised some of the victim children to use various toxic substances to kill their parents, claiming that if the child used these substances, they would not be detected in an autopsy, thereby trying to increase their determination to commit a crime.
In the indictment, it was requested that Süleyman Salih Zoroğlu be sentenced to a total of 96 years to 972 years in prison for 21 counts of "trafficking or supplying narcotic or stimulant substances," 21 counts of "torture," 4 counts of "defamation," 2 counts of "deprivation of liberty," 2 counts of "blackmail," 2 counts of "encouraging the use of narcotic substances," 1 count of "illegally obtaining personal data," and 1 count of "violating the confidentiality of private life." Additionally, varying prison sentences were requested for the other 5 defendants alleged to have assisted Zoroğlu.
