In the incident where two workers lost their lives due to a collapse at a marble quarry in Balıkesir, the company owner and four officials who were detained have been released under judicial control.

A collapse occurred at the marble quarry operating in the Saraylar neighborhood of the Marmara district in Balıkesir around 16:30 on November 24. Workers Ahmet Özmen (34) and Mustafa Dak (55), who were struck by falling rock fragments, were trapped under the rubble.

2 WORKERS DIED UNDER THE COLLAPSE

Teams dispatched to the scene struggled to carry out search and rescue operations in the collapse, which contained large marble blocks. The teams reached the lifeless bodies of Ahmet Özmen after 4 hours and Mustafa Dak after 7.5 hours. After the workers' bodies were placed in body bags, they were taken on a stretcher and lifted 10 meters high with the help of a crane.
