The application that directly concerns property owners will begin in less than two months. Starting from January 1, 2025, all transactions to be carried out in the land registry will not be possible without certain documents. DOCUMENTS NEED TO BE RENEWEDThe implementation of the chip-enabled Turkish Republic Identity Card (TCKK) began on March 14, 2016, in Kırıkkale province, and subsequently in 10 provinces including Adıyaman, Aksaray, Artvin, Burdur, Erzincan, Erzurum, Kırıkkale, Rize, Trabzon, Uşak, and Yalova. As of January 2, 2017, efforts to expand this implementation have started nationwide. Since that date, both old and new identity cards have been in use across the country. Although an initial deadline was set until 2023 to convert the identity card into a chip-enabled one, this restriction was later lifted. OLD DOCUMENTS WILL NO LONGER BE VALIDStarting from the beginning of 2025, it will be mandatory to use Turkish Republic identity cards instead of old identity cards for all transactions in the land registry. Therefore, those who will carry out transactions at the Land Registry Offices will need to change their identities. Otherwise, no transactions can be made with old identity cards. PAY ATTENTION TO THE VALIDITY PERIODThe usage period of the new chip-enabled identity card is 10 years. The expiration date is also written on the card. Upon the expiration of the validity period, the cardholder must reapply to renew their card. Transactions cannot be carried out in the land registry with the old identity card in the new year.
