A new development has occurred in the suspicious death case involving the lifeless body of 20-year-old Arzu Ay, a mother of one, found hanging from a tree in front of her home in Ordu on Mother's Day. Following the young woman's husband, her mother-in-law has also been arrested and sent to prison on charges of "torture against the daughter-in-law."

On May 11, around 18:00, a suspicious death incident occurred in the area between İlküvez and Aşıklı neighborhoods in the Çaybaşı district of Ordu. The lifeless body of Arzu Ay (20) was found hanging from a tree in front of her house. Following the investigation initiated by the Ünye Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Arzu Ay's husband Cihan A. and her mother-in-law Kıymet A. were detained by the Çaybaşı District Gendarmerie Command teams after examinations were conducted at the scene and in the house.

AFTER HER HUSBAND, HER MOTHER-IN-LAW WAS ALSO ARRESTED

After their statements at the Ünye Courthouse, the suspects, including Cihan A., were brought before the Peace Criminal Court. It was determined that he had subjected his wife to physical and psychological violence and torture, leading to his arrest for the crime of "torture against a spouse" and his transfer to prison.

Kıymet A., who was released under judicial control for the crime of "torture and mistreatment of her daughter-in-law," was subject to a new detention order as a result of the deepening investigation conducted by the gendarmerie teams and new statements obtained. After her procedures in custody, Kıymet A. was taken to the Ünye Courthouse for her statement to the prosecutor and was referred to the Heavy Penal Court.

The court arrested Kıymet A. for the crime of "torture against a daughter-in-law" and sent her to prison. Thus, the number of detainees in the investigation regarding the suspicious death of Arzu Ay has risen to two. The investigation is ongoing in all aspects.
