Those who were performing the Tarawih prayer at the Yeşilyazı Mosque in Sivas were affected by carbon monoxide gas leaking from a natural gas stove. A total of 48 people affected by the gas were taken to hospitals. It has been reported that the citizens receiving treatment are not in life-threatening condition.
Citizens who came to perform the evening prayer at the Yeşilyazı Mosque in the Akıncılar district of Sivas were affected by the carbon monoxide gas leaking from the natural gas stove used for heating the mosque. Upon notification, many ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
48 PEOPLE HOSPITALIZED
A total of 48 people affected by the gas were taken to hospitals in Akıncılar and Suşehri, either by ambulance or their own means. After the initial intervention at these hospitals, 5 individuals were referred to Sivas Numune Hospital in the city center for observation. It was reported that the approximately 48 individuals who applied to the hospitals were not in life-threatening condition.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
After the incident, the Sivas Governor's Office made a written statement. In the statement, it was noted, "Around 20:30, a report was received at the 112 Emergency Call Center stating that some of our citizens were unwell during the evening prayer at the Yeşilyazı Neighborhood Mosque in the Akıncılar district. Following the report, our 112 Emergency Health, Police, and Fire Department teams were dispatched to the scene. According to the initial assessments, it was determined that poisoning cases occurred due to radiant heaters identified to be operating with natural gas in the mosque. Some of the 48 citizens affected by the incident were transported to Suşehri State Hospital by ambulance, while others made their way there on their own. The examinations and treatments of the citizens are ongoing at Suşehri State Hospital. Five patients affected by the incident have been referred to our Sivas Central Numune Hospital for advanced treatment," it was stated.
