During Narin Güran's trial, the presiding judge removed his robe.

09.11.2024 13:50

In the Narin Güran case, where 4 defendants are being tried for aggravated life imprisonment, the presiding judge, while speaking with the informant Nevzat Bahtiyar, took off his robe and asked, "Nevzat Bahtiyar, look around. There are so many people here, we have been here for days. I am not trying to manipulate emotions. I am asking as an individual. Are the statements you made in the last session true or false?"

After 19 days of being lost in Diyarbakır, the trial regarding the murder of eight-year-old Narin Güran, whose lifeless body was found in a sack in a stream bed, continues on its third day. The detained defendants, mother Yüksel, brother Enes, uncle Salim Güran, and Nevzat Bahtiyar are being tried for 'intentional murder of a child in complicity' with a request for aggravated life imprisonment.

THE JUDGE REMOVED HIS ROBE

During today's hearing, where 18 witnesses will be heard, a dialogue between the presiding judge and the informant Nevzat Bahtiyar drew attention. The presiding judge, who removed his robe during the session, said, "Nevzat Bahtiyar, look around. There are so many people here, we have been here for days. I am not making an emotional appeal. I am asking as an individual. Are the statements you made in the last session true or false? New camera recordings may come out," he said.

"DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING YOU'RE HIDING?"

Nevzat Bahtiyar responded to the judge's question with "I don't know, I don't remember." Upon this answer, the presiding judge interjected again, asking, "It's not 'I don't remember,' do you have something you're hiding?" Nevzat Bahtiyar simply replied, "No."
