Indian Envoy Bids Turkey Farewell With 'Indian Dream'

Sanjay Bhattacharyya came here as ambassador of India to Turkey, but 'will go back as ambassador of Turkey as well'

A farewell reception was held Thursday evening in Ankara for India's Ambassador to Turkey, Sanjay Bhattacharyya.
Bhattacharyya, who came to Ankara in 2018, will depart after completing his term later this week.
"Although my stay here has been shorter than I had anticipated, it has been very beautiful," Bhattacharyya told Anadolu Agency during the reception at the Indian embassy.
"The Turkish people are so warm and hospitable and friendly that I found a 'brother' wherever I traveled across Turkey," he said, noting he will cherish these memories for the rest of his life.
Expressing his hope to deepen brotherly relations between the two countries over time, he said: "I've come here as only the ambassador of India to Turkey. But in a way, I go back as the ambassador of Turkey as well."
After farewell speeches by Bhattacharyya and his wife Ranu, the embassy held a fashion show.
The embassy presented a collection which was designed based on the "Indian Dream" of the fashion designer Ahmet Ozceyhan with precious fabrics from India.
The collection consisted of unique designs featuring a colorful bouquet of Indian motifs resplendent with gold and silver threads on finely woven silk fabrics from the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The vast variety and excellence of Indian silks have been given a new form through the vision of the designer.
His artistic genius forms a melodic "Indian Dream" reinterpreting and recreating the traditional Indian drape of the iconic Indian garment -- the saree -- in a contemporary and modern line.
Since 1970, Ozceyhan has presented over 70 national and 39 international fashion shows around the world and received many national and international awards.
He is inspired by Turkish, Ottoman and Asian cultures. -
