In a statement from NORAD's website, it was noted that an E-3 and two F-16 and KC-135 fighter jets were deployed to intercept a Russian spy plane of the "COOT (IL-20)" type operating in Alaska's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). THEY CAME FACE TO FACE FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A WEEK
In the statement, it was conveyed that Russia's activities in the ADIZ "occur regularly and are not seen as a threat," and it was expressed that NORAD is "prepared to use a range of intervention options" to defend North America.
