Following the complaint filed by the Ministry of National Education, an investigation has been launched against 168 individuals who signed the statement titled "We Defend Secularism Together" on charges of inciting hatred and hostility among the public. The suspects' statements have begun to be taken by the police.
The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against 168 individuals who signed the statement titled "We Defend Secularism Together" on the grounds of "inciting the public to hatred and enmity," following a criminal complaint by the Ministry of National Education (MEB).
According to the information obtained, MEB filed a criminal complaint with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the statement titled "We Defend Secularism Together."
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE INITIATED AN INVESTIGATION
The criminal complaint stated that expressions used in the statement, such as "provocation of a reactionary minority" and "sharia impositions," are aimed at disrupting social peace and contain serious accusations against public administration.
As a result, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation against the 168 individuals who signed the statement for "inciting the public to hatred and enmity."
STATEMENTS TAKEN
It has been learned that, in accordance with the instructions given by the prosecutor's office, the statements of the suspects began to be taken by law enforcement units today.
After the completion of the statement procedures, the documents prepared will be sent to the prosecutor's office to decide whether to file a lawsuit.
