A new hope for peace has emerged in the Middle East, where tensions began with attacks by the EU and Israel on Iran and have not subsided even slightly in the past three months.
IRAN: THE AGREEMENT MAY HAPPEN IN THE COMING DAYS, IF NOT TOMORROW Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ismail Baghai made a statement regarding the negotiations with the USA in Hamedan province.
According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, Baghai said in his statement about the memorandum of understanding expected to be signed with the USA through Pakistan's mediation, "The ongoing Islamabad agreement talks are focused on ending the war, and it has been decided not to discuss the nuclear issue at this stage."
Regarding the signing of the agreement between the USA and Iran, which Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said he expects to be finalized within 24 hours, Baghai stated: "We need to wait for the exact timing of the signing of the agreement. The possibility of it happening in the coming days, if not tomorrow, cannot be ruled out."
Baghai said they should be cautious because the US side refrains from making any comments about the process.
Ismail Baghai PAKISTAN PRIME MINISTER SHARIF: IT CAN BE SIGNED WITHIN 24 HOURS Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that they are closer than ever to a peace agreement between the USA and Iran and expect the agreement to be finalized within 24 hours. Shehbaz Sharif CLAIM: "TRUMP STOPPED THE GROUND OPERATION" Meanwhile, the American broadcaster CNN reported that the US military prepared a ground operation to seize uranium in Iran, but President Donald Trump stopped it. According to CNN's report based on two sources familiar with the matter, US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine went to the US Central Command (CENTCOM) headquarters in Florida and listened to plans there for deploying ground forces to Iran to seize enriched uranium.
The sources stated that the meeting was held urgently, and Caine quickly returned from the NATO meeting in Brussels to his country on May 19 due to this reason, adding that holding these meetings at such a high level indicates how close they were to a ground operation.
Dan Caine TRUMP CONCERNED ABOUT MILITARY CASUALTIES The sources, stating that Caine later informed US President Donald Trump about the ground operation plan, claimed that Trump decided to stop the operation due to warnings that it could lead to severe Iranian retaliation, prolong the war, and further plunge the global economy into chaos. According to the sources, Trump also expressed concern about the loss of many US soldiers.
