Iran extended an olive branch to Saudi Arabia, one of the countries it targeted in retaliatory actions against the attacks from the US and Israel. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that he is in constant contact with his Saudi counterpart and said that they do not see their neighbors as "enemies." Araghchi also added that Saudi officials assured them that they would not allow their territory to be used against Iran.
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi evaluated the attacks of the US-Israel on Iran and Iran's attacks on US bases in neighboring countries.
"SAUDI OFFICIALS GAVE US ASSURANCES" According to Iranian state television, Araghchi stated that they are in constant contact with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, saying, "We are in constant communication with my Saudi counterpart. Saudi officials assured us that they would not allow their land, waters, or airspace to be used against Iran."
Pointing to the agreement reached in Beijing, China on March 10, 2023, regarding the resumption of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia after a 7-year hiatus, Araghchi said, "Our communication continues, and we hope that our Saudi brothers will also adhere to the Beijing agreement."
Abbas Araghchi "IRAN DOES NOT SEE ITS NEIGHBORS AS ENEMIES" Araghchi stated that the responsibility for the escalation of tensions in the region lies with Washington and Tel Aviv, saying, "The aggression of the US and Israel has endangered the entire region. Iran does not see its neighbors as enemies. We are friends with our neighbors. The presence of US bases in the region has brought nothing but insecurity. This war has been imposed on the region, but we will give a heavy lesson to the aggressor."
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN While negotiations between Tehran and Washington are ongoing, Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28. Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, where US bases are located, in addition to Israel. In the US-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as well as many high-ranking officials, were killed. Iranian Health Ministry Spokesman Hossein Kermanpur announced that 926 people lost their lives in the US-Israel attacks.
