Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that they will resist the reimposition of UN sanctions, saying, "Those who possess determination, will, and the power of progress cannot be stopped."

The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, reacted strongly to the decision of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany to re-activate the United Nations (UN) sanctions known as the "Snapback" mechanism.

The President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, spoke at a ceremony held in the capital Tehran for Iranian youth who won medals at the 2025 World Science Olympiad.

CHALLENGED THE UN'S SANCTION DECISION

Pezeshkian referred to the decision of the "E3" countries, consisting of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, to re-activate the UN sanctions known as the "Snapback" mechanism under the nuclear agreement signed in 2015. The Iranian President stated, "They held a meeting last night to bring back the Snapback. However, it is the minds and thoughts that find the real path or open a new way. No obstacle can stop Iran's progress," he said.

"WE WILL NOT SURRENDER, WE WILL NOT BOW"

Pezeshkian, pointing to the nuclear facilities targeted by the US and Israel last June, said, "They may strike Natanz or Fordow, but the reality they forget is that it is our people who built Natanz and many more important facilities, and they will build them again. It is enough to believe that we will overcome obstacles and that the ill-intentioned cannot block our path. No one with determination, will, and the power of progress can be stopped. We will never surrender to excessive demands and we will not bow. Because we have the power of change and transformation," he stated.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) rejected a draft resolution yesterday that confirmed Iran's nuclear commitments and foresaw the permanent lifting of UN sanctions. In the vote, China, Russia, Pakistan, and Algeria supported the draft, while 9 countries, including the United Kingdom, France, and the United States, voted against it, and Guyana and South Korea abstained.
