The Israeli army struck the Rafah area in Gaza with warplanes, citing Hamas's violation of the ceasefire as the reason. In a statement following the attack, it was stated, "Hamas has seriously violated the ceasefire. We have carried out an attack on Gaza."
The Israeli army carried out an airstrike on Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip on Sunday, despite the ceasefire agreement reached with Hamas.
SHOCK ACCUSATION FROM ISRAEL TO HAMAS
Israel's public broadcaster KAN reported that the attacks were carried out following the conflict with Hamas. Channel 12 claimed that the attack occurred after Hamas militants targeted a military vehicle. There has been no statement from Hamas regarding Israel's claim yet.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Last week, a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas, in line with a phased plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The first phase involved the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisions the reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of a new governance mechanism without Hamas.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, more than 68,100 people have lost their lives and 170,200 have been injured in Israel's genocidal war that has been ongoing since October 2023.
