In the ceasefire talks attended by high-level officials from Afghanistan and Pakistan, the heads of the intelligence services and defense ministers of both countries were present at the meeting. In order to ensure that the ceasefire continues in a sustainable and verifiable manner, follow-up meetings will be held in the coming days. It was decided that the first meeting of the technical committee, which will work on the details of the ceasefire after 14 hours of negotiations, will be held in Istanbul.
At the meeting, long-term steps will be emphasized for the permanent resolution of issues such as terrorism, migration, and border security between the two countries. On October 11, a trilateral meeting was also held in Istanbul between the heads of the intelligence services of Turkey, Pakistan, and Qatar, and simultaneous contact was established with Afghanistan during the meeting.
MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS: WE WELCOME THE DECISION
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it welcomed the declaration of a ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan. In a written statement from the ministry, it was expressed, "We welcome the decision to establish a ceasefire in the talks held in Doha under the mediation of Turkey and Qatar, and to establish mechanisms for strengthening peace and stability between the two sides."
The statement also noted that Qatar's efforts, which hosted the aforementioned talks, were appreciated, and it was evaluated that "Turkey will continue to support efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability between the two brotherly countries and in the region."
