The Israeli army, on November 27, 2024, once again violated the ceasefire reached with Lebanon by conducting airstrikes in the Bekaa region of Lebanon.
According to Lebanese media, it was reported that the Israeli army carried out airstrikes on the towns of Sahmar and Meşgara, located in the south of Bekaa in the east of the country, following threats of attack from the Israeli army.
ISRAELI FIGHTER JETS STRIKE LEBANON
It was reported that Israeli fighter jets carried out several attacks on two buildings in Sahmar, which had been threatened with an attack. The Lebanese official news agency NNA reported that the Israeli army later targeted two more buildings in Meşgara, which had also been threatened with an attack. No information was shared regarding whether there were any casualties or injuries in the attacks.
In a statement from the Israeli army, it was reported that the attacks targeted alleged weapons storage facilities and other infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah.
WHAT HAPPENED?
In a statement alleging that Hezbollah violated the agreement, a threat was made that the attacks would continue.
Israeli Army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee had made threats of attack in posts on the social media platform of the US-based X company prior to the attacks.
The spokesperson claimed that they would target military infrastructure allegedly belonging to Hezbollah in Sahmar and Meşgara.
ISRAEL'S ATTACKS ON LEBANON
Israel launched an attack on Lebanon in October 2023, which escalated into a large-scale war in September 2024. More than 4,000 people lost their lives in the war, and approximately 17,000 were injured.
Despite the ceasefire agreement reached between Lebanon and Israel in November 2024, it was reported that Israel violated the ceasefire more than 4,500 times, resulting in hundreds of civilian deaths and injuries.
