The elderly construction master, who suffered a second-degree burn on his right leg due to the theme of the drain opener he used to open a clogged bathroom drain in Ağrı, is receiving treatment at Erzurum City Hospital.
Halis Uca, a 79-year-old father of five and a construction master living in Ağrı, wanted to open the clogged bathroom drain in his house using a drain opener some time ago.
THE OPENER HE POURED INTO THE DRAIN SPLASHED BACK
As a result of the chemical drain opener he poured into the clogged drain splashing back and coming into contact with his right leg, Uca suffered a burn on his leg. Initially not going to the doctor, Uca sought treatment at Ağrı Training and Research Hospital after the pain in his leg increased.
HE WAS TAKEN UNDER TREATMENT
After the intervention here, Uca, who was referred to the Burn Treatment Center at Erzurum City Hospital and suffered a second-degree burn on his right leg, is continuing his treatment. Patient Uca stated in a statement to journalists that he used two drain openers to open the clogged drain.
"THE PAINS IN MY LEG INCREASED TWO DAYS LATER"
Uca, who expressed that the drain opener he poured into the clogged drain came into contact with his leg but did not take the incident very seriously at first, said, "We opened the clogged drain, two days later I took a shower, and the pain in my leg increased. We went to the hospital in Ağrı, then they referred us to Erzurum. We have been here for 7 days, they are taking very good care of us here. No one should use drain openers, be very careful." he stated.
Uca explained that the drain opener that came into contact with his body led to very dangerous results and caused deep burns upon contact with the skin. Expressing his sadness about the incident that happened to him, Uca said, "These kinds of jobs are very dangerous, they can kill a person. Let's be careful." he said.
"THERE IS ALSO LOSS OF SENSATION IN HIS LEG"
Emre Nohutçu, one of the doctors at the Burn Treatment Center, explained that the patient came to them late, saying, "Actually, our uncle tried to open the clogged drains with a drain opener, trusting his expertise, and the drain opener came into contact with his leg when it splashed with water. There is also loss of sensation in the uncle's leg, and when he noticed this later, he told his children, and they realized that the burn had progressed." he said.
Nohutçu stated that the treatment of the patient who suffered second-degree deep burns on his leg was going well, but due to his chronic conditions, the healing of the wound would take some time. He emphasized that the usage rules must be followed when using such chemical products and also recommended the use of protective goggles, clothing, and gloves.
