It has been claimed that Iran is ready to reduce its uranium enrichment level from 60% to 3.6% ahead of the nuclear talks with the United States, which will continue tomorrow in Geneva, Switzerland.

Iran is said to propose reducing its uranium enrichment level from 60% to 3.6% ahead of nuclear talks with the U.S. in Geneva. It is reported that in ongoing negotiations, Iran is demanding the lifting of sanctions in exchange for limiting its nuclear program.

"IRAN WILL PROPOSE TO REDUCE URANIUM ENRICHMENT TO 3.6%

In a report by Israeli state television KAN, citing an Arab diplomat familiar with the negotiations, it was suggested that Iran would propose to lower its uranium enrichment level to 3.6%.

According to the report, the Arab diplomat aware of Iran's proposal stated that Tehran would offer to reduce its uranium enrichment level from 60% to 3.6%, similar to the level agreed upon in the 2015 nuclear deal.

"7-YEAR SUSPENSION" PROPOSAL

The Arab diplomat claimed that the U.S. was not insistent on the "zero enrichment" principle in the previous round and that Iran would propose to suspend uranium enrichment for 7 years in tomorrow's negotiation round.

"WASHINGTON INSISTENT ON 10 YEARS"

Sources indicated that the Washington administration wanted this commitment to last for 10 years and that this issue would be included in the negotiations, asserting that Iran was only willing to reduce the enrichment rate and refused to export its existing enriched uranium, while the U.S. was insistent on the export of enriched uranium.

NEGOTIATION PROCESS BETWEEN IRAN AND THE U.S.

The nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S., interrupted by Israeli and U.S. attacks on Iran in June 2025, were revitalized through the initiatives of regional countries, especially Turkey, and the mediation of Oman.

While the U.S. threats of attack and massive military buildup continued, the parties met in Oman on February 6 for indirect negotiations and agreed to continue contacts. Subsequently, talks continued in Geneva on February 17. The parties reported progress in the discussions and later agreed to reconvene in Geneva on February 26.

Iran is demanding the lifting of sanctions in exchange for maintaining its nuclear program within the framework of limitations that would prevent the production of atomic bombs. The U.S., on the other hand, wants Tehran to completely halt its uranium enrichment activities and export its stock of high-level enriched uranium.

The negotiations address the level to which the enrichment rate will be limited, the status of approximately 440 kilograms of uranium stock enriched to 60%, and the timeline for lifting sanctions and verification mechanisms.
