The chives, which grow on high-altitude rocks in the Göksun district of Kahramanmaraş, are being harvested again with the arrival of spring, selling for up to 300 TL per kilogram. Halil İbrahim Algan, who collects 70 kilograms in a day, plans to earn 21,000 TL.

GROWS IN ROCKY AREAS
The chives that grow in the rocky areas of Değirmendere town stand out for their taste and nutritional value. Chives are used in many dishes such as pastries, borani, and pilaf, and can also be prepared for winter. The local people prefer to consume chives either sautéed or in herb pastries.
STANDS OUT WITH ITS UNIQUE TASTE
Halil İbrahim Algan, a resident of Göksun, stated that the Değirmendere chives have different characteristics compared to those grown in other regions, saying, "It stands out for its high altitude growth, durability, and unique pleasant taste. Since it grows in rocky areas, it has a very rich vitamin content."
THERE ARE THOSE WHO EARN 21 THOUSAND LIRA DAILY
Algan expressed that collecting chives is quite a laborious process, stating, "We made a challenging journey of about 30 kilometers to collect an average of 70 kilograms of product. Currently, the price of the product reaches up to 300 TL per kilogram."
