The Gendarmerie Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) illuminated the murder committed in the Sur district of Diyarbakır with DNA from a cigarette butt. As part of the efforts carried out by the Diyarbakır Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Public Order Branch JASAT teams; a special working group was formed to identify the perpetrators of M.Y., who was shot dead at his residence in the Küçükakören neighborhood of Sur district. The teams conducted a field investigation around the crime scene for 5 months and carried out in-depth examinations on technical data. As a result of the studies; evidence dated April 13, 2025, which is considered to be when the victim was killed, was combined one by one.
DNA FROM CIGARETTE BUTT CLARIFIED THE MURDER
Gendarmerie Detectives, who deepened the investigation, determined that the DNA profile obtained from a cigarette butt at the crime scene matched that of M.A., a close friend and relative of the victim. Thus, M.A.'s statement that he "never went to the victim's house" was disproven, and the case was solved. Perpetrator M.A. was arrested. Judicial control measures were applied to 7 suspects.
