The High Court in England found it unlawful to designate the Palestine Action group, which supports Palestine, as a terrorist organization and ban it.

The founding president of Palestine Action, Huda Ammori, won the legal battle against the decision to ban the group under anti-terrorism laws.

"THIS IS A MONUMENTAL VICTORY THAT HAS BEEN WON"

According to the news by News.com London Representative Bilal Acar; Ammori stated in front of the court where the case was heard, "This is a monumental victory that has been won on behalf of both our fundamental freedoms in the United Kingdom and the freedom struggle of the Palestinian people; as it has overturned a decision that will be remembered as one of the most extreme attacks on freedom of expression in recent UK history."

"THIS SITUATION IS A TRUMP-LIKE ABUSE OF POWER"

Ammori, stating that Palestine Action is the first civil disobedience organization banned as a "terrorist organization" by the UK government despite not advocating violence, said, "This situation is a Trump-like abuse of power. This ban was illegal and resulted in the unlawful detention of approximately 3,000 people, including priests, former magistrates, and retired doctors, who were quietly sitting with banners saying 'I am against genocide' and 'I support Palestine Action'."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

The ban on Palestine Action under the accusation of being a terrorist organization was the first ban applied to a direct action-oriented protest group. This decision led to widespread condemnations; a civil disobedience campaign challenging the ban was launched, and during this process, more than 2,000 people were detained.

As of July 5 of last year, being a member of or expressing support for the group had become a crime punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
