The General Directorate of Meteorology issued a "yellow" code warning for heavy rain and storms in Antalya, where rainfall began last night and continued into the morning. The heavy rain caused flooding throughout the city. Manholes overflowed, roads turned into lakes, some vehicles were stranded, and citizens experienced difficult moments. While tow trucks rushed to help the stranded vehicles, firefighters rescued those trapped inside.
A DEAD CALF WASHED ASHORE
A dead calf, believed to have been swept into the sea by the flood and storm, was found on Antalya's world-famous Konyaaltı Beach. The calf was retrieved by teams from the Metropolitan Municipality's coastal cleaning department using a crane. In the Kundu area of Antalya, fields were submerged.
EDUCATION SUSPENDED IN 7 DISTRICTS
Due to adverse weather conditions, education was suspended today in the districts of Alanya, Gazipaşa, Kumluca, Kaş, Demre, Finike, and Kemer.
VEHICLES STRANDED ON THE ROAD
The heavy rain that started in the Döşemealtı district brought life to a standstill with the first light of morning. Roads and agricultural areas turned into lakes, and drivers faced difficult moments. An ambulance was unable to proceed on a waterlogged road. Some vehicles were also stranded in the flooded road.
PERGOLAS SWEPT INTO THE SEA
In Alanya, where the heavy rain was effective, damage occurred in some picnic businesses in the Dimçayı area, where the water level rose. The pergolas set up in the stream were swept away by the rising current and reached the sea. Business owners, upon learning of the situation, went to the beach at night with trucks to collect the pergolas, barrels, and various items one by one, and piled them on the beach. The materials collected by the business owners and their relatives were loaded onto trucks and taken away from the area.
HOUSES AND VEHICLES FLOODED
In Alanya, due to the heavy rain, the water of the Oba Stream reached the road. While vehicles were stranded at the Kızılcaşehir Junction, some vehicles were flooded. As a result of the overflow of the Oba Stream, the gardens of two sites were filled with water, and the houses on the ground floor were submerged. Some residents of the building managed to escape on their own, while vehicles left in the water were rescued by heavy machinery. Those who could not leave the building watched the events from the balcony.
