Justice Minister Akın Gürlek donated the 150,000 lira compensation he won against CHP member Murat Emir to AFAD. The court had ruled that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and Emir should pay the compensation. It was noted that Özel requested to wait for the appellate decision without making a payment, while it was recorded that the entire compensation arising from Emir's own claims was deposited by the CHP Headquarters.
The Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek, donated the compensation he won from the defamation and insult lawsuit he filed against CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir to AFAD.
In a statement made by the Ministry of Justice, it was noted that a lawsuit was filed against CHP Chairman Özgür Özel and CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir due to the "baseless" allegations they made against Minister Gürlek, and that the Istanbul 20th Civil Court of First Instance decided to combine the two cases, ruling that Özel and Emir should each pay 150,000 lira in non-pecuniary damages.
COMPENSATION WAS DEPOSITED BY CHP HEADQUARTERS
In the statement, it was mentioned that Özel requested to wait for the appellate decision without making a payment, while it was recorded that the entire amount of compensation arising from Emir's own allegations was deposited by the CHP Headquarters. The statement also indicated that Minister Gürlek donated the 150,000 lira compensation amount paid to him to AFAD.
A lawsuit petition prepared due to the statements made by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel during his party's group meeting on June 17, 2025, and by Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir during a press conference he held in June of the same year against the then Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek was submitted to the Istanbul 20th Civil Court of First Instance.
