CHP spokesperson Zeynel Emre announced that Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was detained as part of the bribery investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, has had his party membership suspended and will be referred for disciplinary action.
The Central Executive Board (MYK) of the CHP made a decision regarding Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım, who was detained as part of a bribery investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
MEMBERSHIP SUSPENDED
After the MYK meeting of his party, CHP Spokesperson Zeynel Emre made a statement regarding the issue, announcing that Yalım's membership had been suspended. Emre stated: “As the MYK, it has been unanimously decided to suspend Özkan Yalım's membership, to assign two legal experts, to investigate all of this, and then to conduct a disciplinary process by listening to what Özkan Yalım has to say, regardless of the outcome. The necessary actions will be taken in the coming days.”
WHAT HAPPENED?
Teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Unit of the Istanbul Police Department had carried out an operation in line with the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Uşak Mayor Özkan Yalım on the grounds of "receiving bribes from individuals and companies." Yalım was caught with his 21-year-old girlfriend in a luxury hotel, while it was determined that the young woman did not have a registration at the hotel and had an active social security record at the municipality. A total of 13 people, including Yalım, were detained.
