Princess Kate of Wales attended the St. Patrick's Day parade of the Irish Guards. Choosing a special green outfit for the celebration, Kate was presented with a traditional shamrock. The princess, who was unable to attend the event last year due to cancer treatment, made a magnificent return this year.

Princess Kate of Wales opted for a special green outfit for St. Patrick's Day as she attended the Irish Guards' parade today, where she was presented with a traditional shamrock.

The 43-year-old Kate made a magnificent return to this important celebration alone after her cancer treatment and later left money at the bar to buy drinks for the soldiers.

Upon arriving at Wellington Barracks in central London, Kate inspected the soldiers and was then presented with traditional shamrock branches by a guard.

The princess pinned the shamrock to the lapel of her coat, in addition to the shamrock-shaped badge she was already wearing.

An emotional moment occurred during the ceremony; Kate bent down to pet the adorable Irish Wolfhound Turlough, who serves as the official mascot of the parade.

Taking over the duties from her husband Prince William, Kate, who is the Colonel of the Irish Guards, was unable to attend this important annual event last year due to her cancer treatment.

However, gradually returning to her official duties, the princess wore a lucky green Alexander McQueen coat dress symbolizing Ireland for her return today.

Kate completed her chic look with black heeled boots and a beret, pinned a shamrock badge to her lapel, styled her hair in an elegant bun, and opted for natural makeup.

As a meaningful gesture, the future Queen of England also left money at the bar for the guard soldiers' refreshments, stating to the British news channel GB News that "this was the least she could do."

Later, Kate saluted the soldiers as Colonel during the parade, meeting with Irish Guards veterans and young military students from Northern Ireland known as "Mini Micks."

The princess also spent time in the dining hall with junior soldiers, where she raised a toast in honor of a senior guard, and chatted with military families in the sergeants' lounge.

In 2023, after taking over the colonelcy from Prince William, Kate had visited the Irish Guards at Mons Barracks in Aldershot, Hampshire, on St. Patrick's Day with her husband.

Last year, while the princess was away from her official duties due to abdominal surgery, the guard soldiers had cheered three times with "Huzzah!" for their absent colonel during the ceremony.
