A large explosion occurred at a fireworks depot located in Northern California. As a result of the explosion, the depot was completely destroyed, and local residents were forced to flee their homes in fear.

The explosion took place on Tuesday evening in Yolo County, near the towns of Esparto and Madison. Residents reported that the ground shook and the sky was filled with flames and smoke.

Bryan Sandoval from Esparto said, "Everything shook, we didn't feel anything else." He and his family were evacuated immediately. After the explosion, the sky was filled with smoke and exploding fireworks.

Images from the scene show white smoke rising from the roof of the depot, followed by a large fireball explosion. The exploding fireworks scattered uncontrollably in all directions.

The smoke column created by the explosion reached approximately 4,500 meters in height and was visible from miles away. The uncontrolled fireworks caused fires in the surrounding dry grass and fields.

The fire quickly spread over an area of about 80 acres, completely destroying nearby commercial buildings. Fire officials reported numerous small fires and explosions. Crews largely contained the spread of the fire by 7:30 PM, but hotspots continued to smolder throughout the night.

The Yolo County Sheriff's Office issued an evacuation order for an area within a 1-mile (1.6 km) radius of the scene following the explosion. The cause of the explosion is still unknown, and damage assessments are ongoing with drones.

Cal Fire firefighting units responded with air and ground crews to prevent the fire from spreading to rural areas. Although no casualties or injuries have been reported in the area, some roads were closed.

This explosion occurred just two days before the heavily celebrated July 4th Independence Day in the United States, when fireworks are widely used. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the explosion.
