The final harvest of the season has begun in the Hevsel Gardens, where uninterrupted agriculture has been practiced for 8,000 years in Diyarbakır. HOST TO 33 CIVILIZATIONSIn the city, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and has hosted 33 civilizations, four crops are planted and harvested annually in the fertile soils of the 8,000-year-old Hevsel Gardens. Many types of vegetables and greens are grown here and sold as natural products in the vegetable market and local bazaars. In the last days of autumn, the harvest of products such as arugula, chard, green onions, and dill that remain in the field is being carried out. Producer Sedat Hülük stated that they grow crops 3-4 times a year in the Hevsel Gardens, and currently only lettuce remains, along with chard leaves, spinach, dill, arugula, and green onions. "BUNCHES ARE BETWEEN 6-7 LIRA"Hülük, stating that these are their final harvests, said, "We are closing the season; the weather has turned cold. My neighbors send their vegetables to the market, some vendors come here to buy. I sell them myself. Here, bunches are between 6-7 lira. Those who take them to the market sell them for 10-15 lira. The soil is very fertile."
