A lawsuit has been filed seeking a prison sentence for a doctor following a fight at a hospital in Hatay.
DOCTOR PUNCHES HIS PATIENT
The incident occurred on January 27 at the emergency department of Kırıkhan State Hospital. According to the claim, Mustafa Kuşkonmaz, who fell ill, went to the emergency department with his uncle Abdurrahman Kuşkonmaz (46). After Dr. Furkan V. examined Mustafa Kuşkonmaz, he prescribed a serum. When Kuşkonmaz returned to Dr. Furkan V. to get medication prescribed after the serum finished, an argument broke out between them. As the argument escalated, during the scuffle, Dr. Furkan V. punched Mustafa Kuşkonmaz in the face.
INCIDENT ON SECURITY CAMERA
While the incident was captured on the hospital's security camera, Mustafa Kuşkonmaz suffered a 30% vision loss in his left eye. After Mustafa Kuşkonmaz and Abdurrahman Kuşkonmaz filed a complaint, an investigation was launched against Furkan V. At the end of the investigation, a lawsuit was filed against Furkan V. at the Kırıkhan 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance, seeking up to 1.5 years in prison for 'Simple injury' against Mustafa Kuşkonmaz and up to 1 year for 'Attempted simple injury' against Abdurrahman Kuşkonmaz, totaling up to 2.5 years in prison.
DID NOT ACCEPT THE ACCUSATIONS
Dr. Furkan V., in his statement included in the indictment, did not accept the accusations. He said that Mustafa Kuşkonmaz asked him to write a 2-day medical report, but when he refused, Kuşkonmaz insulted him, leading to a shoving match, and he did not punch Kuşkonmaz. Mustafa Kuşkonmaz, in his statement, stated that Dr. Furkan V. first insulted him and then punched him.
"HE PUNCHES MY CLIENT AS IF HITTING AN ENEMY"
Mustafa Kuşkonmaz's lawyer, Çağrı Kuyumcu, stating that he believes the nature of the crime will change during the trial process, said, "While the doctor on duty in the emergency department was conducting the examination, my client specified the medications he is allergic to and the ones he needs to use. The on-duty doctor first reacted verbally by saying, 'Are you trying to teach me my job?' and then, as seen in the camera footage, carried out the assault and punched him in the left eye. My client is currently experiencing 30% vision loss. An indictment has been prepared against the relevant doctor, it has been accepted at the Kırıkhan 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance for simple injury, and a criminal case has been opened. We hope that in the later stages of the criminal case, the nature and action of the crime will change from simple injury to qualified intentional injury. In the incident captured on camera footage, the doctor punched my client as if hitting an enemy," he said.
