The Lebanese government has declared three days of official mourning due to the death of the spiritual leader of Catholics, Pope Francis. Prime Minister Nawaf Salam announced that flags will be flown at half-mast and that similar respect will be shown on the day of the Pope's burial.

MOURNING DECLARED IN LEBANON DUE TO THE DEATH OF THE POPE Lebanon's Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, announced in a written statement that three days of official mourning have been declared in the country following the death of Pope Francis. He stated that flags would be flown at half-mast during the official mourning period, which will last until Wednesday, April 23. Salam also expressed that the same stance would be shown in Lebanon on the day Pope is laid to rest.
Pope Francis Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also published a condolence message due to the Pope's death. Aoun pointed out that Pope Francis was a person of peace, justice, and compassion for the poor, stating that Lebanon, where different faiths coexist, has "lost a friend."
