Once a player for our country’s Beşiktaş, German goalkeeper Loris Karius, whose contract with Newcastle United has ended, has found a new destination after being a free agent since the beginning of the season.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper has transferred to Schalke 04, a team in the German Bundesliga 2. The German club announced that they have signed a contract with Karius until the end of the season.

HAS NOT PLAYED FOR A YEAR

On the other hand, it is noteworthy that Loris Karius has not played in 10 matches over the last 5 seasons. The 31-year-old goalkeeper, who spent the last 2 seasons at Newcastle United, only played in 2 matches. Karius was part of the Liverpool squad in the 2021-2022 season but did not play at all. The experienced goalkeeper also managed to play in only 5 matches for Union Berlin, the team he joined after Beşiktaş. Karius last played for Newcastle United on February 24, 2024. In a Premier League match against Arsenal, the German goalkeeper could not prevent a 4-1 defeat.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper has been a free agent since his contract with Newcastle United ended last summer. Loris Karius, who played for Beşiktaş between 2018 and 2020, played 67 matches for the black and white team, conceded 95 goals, and kept a clean sheet in 14 matches. Karius, who left the black and white team in March 2020 to return to the English giant, later played for teams like Union Berlin and Newcastle United.
