Former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş and other previous CHP congress delegates submitted a petition to the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance, requesting the annulment of all elections held during the 39th Ordinary Congress of the CHP.
Savaş and the delegates' lawyer Onur Yusuf Üregen submitted the petition to the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance.
It was claimed that the CHP Central Headquarters management systematically eliminated the will of the congress during the 38th ordinary congress, and that this situation was contrary to law and public order.
The petition stated that material benefits were provided to some delegates to vote in favor of Özgür Özel in criminal cases, and offers and commitments for candidacy for mayor and council membership were made.
It was also reminded that promises were made for job placements in CHP municipalities and that hundreds of people were being prosecuted.
"THE LAW MUST PUT A STOP TO THIS"
The petition, which requested the precautionary suspension of the General Chairman Özgür Özel, members of the CHP Central Executive Board, members of the Party Assembly, and members of the High Disciplinary Board, stated:
"There is a structure that has seized the management of a strong party like the CHP by violating public order, and it is possible that this structure will also use the party management in a way that violates public order. It is an inevitable necessity for the law to put a stop to this.
Because all the resources of a party that is indispensable for our country and democracy, like the Republican People's Party, are being used by those who have seized the management by violating public order, to maintain the current situation of the existing management and to ensure the continuation of this unlawful situation, as well as to extricate Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is accused of being the organizational leader of the crimes committed in the IBB, from his current situation.
The unlawful and public order-violating understanding that has invaded the party has reached such a point that it dares to threaten judges performing their duties and lawyers seeking justice even through the media in courtrooms.
What the judiciary, which is responsible for protecting public order, must do is clear. It is to rescue the Republican People's Party from those who have unlawfully seized its management and to ensure the re-establishment of public order."
