Magnitude-6.1 Earthquake Jolts Southern Iran

No casualty, material damage announced by authorities.

An magnitude-6.1 earthquake struck the southern city of Hormozgan in Iran early Saturday, according to media reports.

Media outlet Jamarannews said the tremor was recorded at 2.02 a.m. local time at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles).

An aftershock of magnitude-4.6 was recorded shortly after the initial quake.

No casualty or property damage has been announced by authorities.
