Upon notification, law enforcement and bomb disposal teams were dispatched to the area. The park, which was evacuated in a controlled manner, was closed to visitors. Photos and videos shared on social media showed the bomb disposal team wearing protective gear at the scene.
FBI: NO INFORMATION INDICATING AN ACTIVE THREAT
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated that an investigation has been initiated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regarding the incident. The statement noted, "Initial findings indicate that the devices were not placed recently and there is no information suggesting an active or ongoing threat to visitors or the surrounding community."
In a statement from the Prince George's County Fire Department (PGFD), it was stated, "There is currently no threat to the public."
