Miners protesting against the privatization of the Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant located in the Nallıhan district of Ankara have started a demonstration by barricading themselves in the mine.
As the miners' protest exceeded 24 hours, Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş visited the workers who are continuing their actions.
"THE MINISTER WILL MEET WITH THE WORKERS"
After the visit, Yavaş stated that he had spoken with the minister. He mentioned that the minister would meet with the worker representatives next week and assured that they would stand by the workers.
In his statement, Yavaş said, "As far as I learned, the Deputy Minister came yesterday and gathered the necessary information. Our friends are continuing their protests. We, as Ankara Metropolitan, Beypazarı, and Nallıhan municipalities, will continue to support them during this process. I spoke with the minister on the phone. He said he would meet with the representatives here next week and that they would not stop coal production. I conveyed this to the friends. At the same time, I mentioned that these friends are seeking guarantees. I believe the issue will be resolved through discussions next week."
