The special "hiding spots" prepared by drug traffickers in the TIR trailer to conceal drug packages did not escape the sensitive nose of the narcotics dog 'Lady'. In an operation organized by Istanbul Narcotics teams in Silivri, a total of 134 kilograms of heroin burst out from the secret compartments of a TIR that was under surveillance. Two suspects were taken into custody regarding the incident. Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız said, "We will never let our youth and future be stolen."
The Istanbul Police Department added another operation to its crackdown on drug traffickers. A suspicious TIR entering Turkey from abroad was caught on the radar of narcotics teams. In a breathtaking operation in Silivri, kilograms of drugs ready to be released to the market were prevented at the last moment.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE WAS TRACKED STEP BY STEP
Teams from the Istanbul Police Department Narcotics Crime Prevention Branch took action based on intelligence that a TIR coming from abroad was transporting drugs. The vehicle, placed under technical and physical surveillance, was stopped at a safe point by police teams while traveling within Silivri borders.
LADY DID NOT FORGIVE THE 'HIDEOUT'
After the TIR was stopped, the narcotics detector dog 'Lady', dispatched to the scene, reacted to the vehicle's trailer. Thanks to Lady's sensitive nose, hidden compartments specially designed to conceal drugs, referred to as 'hideouts', were detected inside the trailer. Following initial inspections, the suspects in the vehicle, V.K. and M.K., were apprehended and taken into custody.
DETAILED SEARCH YIELDED 134 KILOGRAMS OF HEROIN
The drug-laden TIR was towed to the Istanbul Police Department campus for detailed search operations. As a result of meticulous work conducted there, a total of 134 kilograms of heroin, packaged in 203 packages hidden in the trailer's secret compartments, were seized.
"WE WILL NEVER LET THEM STEAL OUR FUTURE"
Istanbul Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız also came to the police headquarters to personally follow the search operations on the trailer. After the operation, Yıldız gave a message of determination, stating:
"Our Narcotics Crime Prevention Branch seized 203 packages of drugs in a vehicle stopped on suspicion, with the detection of our narcotics dog 'Lady' finding the hideout. We will now conduct the weighing together with our colleagues. We never allow drugs in Istanbul. We will never let them steal our youth and our future. Our greatest strength is the support of the people of Istanbul."
While the interrogation of the 2 suspects taken into custody continues at the police station, it was reported that a large-scale investigation into the incident is ongoing.
