Customs enforcement teams from the Ministry of Trade seized a total of 1 ton 153 kilograms of narcotics with a market value of 1 billion 37 million Turkish liras in two separate trucks at the Kapıkule Customs Gate. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
In two separate operations carried out by the Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams at the Kapıkule Customs Gate, a total of 1 ton and 153 kilograms of narcotics with a market value of 1 billion 37 million Turkish Lira were seized.
ABOUT TO ENTER THE COUNTRY
According to a statement from the Ministry; in the first operation, a TIR coming to the Kapıkule Customs Area to enter Turkey was directed to the X-Ray scanning system based on risk criteria. During the X-Ray scan, suspicious densities were detected in the vehicle, and in a detailed search conducted by the Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams, narcotics deemed to be cannabis, with a total net weight of 526 kilograms and 327 grams, were seized in 450 packages.
MARKET VALUE ASTOUNDED
In the second operation, another TIR coming to the Kapıkule Customs Area to enter Turkey was found suspicious and subjected to a detailed search. During the search, narcotics with a total net weight of 626 kilograms and 944 grams were seized in 530 packages. The market value of the narcotics seized in the two operations was assessed to be approximately 1 billion 37 million Turkish Lira.
An investigation has been initiated by the Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the matter.
