Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, who came to the agenda with claims that he was abroad and on vacation during the NATO Leaders Summit, made a statement on his social media account. Stating that he carried out all his travels with his own budget, Güner said the names to attend the NATO Summit were determined by the state and "It is impossible for me to be in such an organization where I was not called/assigned."

Before and during the NATO Leaders Summit hosted by Turkey on July 7-8 in Ankara, intense security and organizational preparations were carried out in the capital, while the claim that Çankaya Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner was abroad on vacation sparked widespread public reaction.

The allegations suggested that the mayor of Çankaya, one of the most critical locations of the summit, was abroad during this period, and Güner faced criticism for not being in Ankara during the historic event.

GÜNER'S STRONG RESPONSE TO ALLEGATIONS

Following the ongoing debates, Hüseyin Can Güner made a statement on his social media account, saying: "For days, a group with clearly evident intentions has been discussing where I was during the NATO summit, why I did not attend, and even whether I went on vacation. I leave these claims, which stretch the limits of reason and goodwill, to the conscience of our nation."

"I CONDUCTED ALL MY TRAVELS WITH MY OWN BUDGET"

Addressing his domestic and international travels, Güner stated: "To date, I have conducted all my domestic and international travels with my own budget. Before every trip, I informed our official institutions, submitted my leave request, and left a proxy. All state institutions know where I am and that I will be wherever I am needed."

"IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO ATTEND AN ORGANIZATION I WAS NOT INVITED TO"

Commenting on the process regarding participation in the NATO Leaders Summit, Güner said: "Who will attend or take part in the NATO summit is determined by our state's relevant institutions. It is naturally impossible for me to attend such an organization without being invited or assigned."

At the end of his statement, Güner also touched on municipal services, saying: "Çankaya Municipality is on duty 24 hours a day, every day of the year, not only during international events like NATO. We are happy to bid farewell to all our guests without any issues from Çankaya and our country, and while stating that serving the people of Çankaya is our greatest pride, I present to the public that our only agenda is to serve our nation."
